Spain

Other Destinations

spainSpain is a culturally rich and vibrant resort that offers tourists a quality vacation seldom found elsewhere. There is a lot to see in Spain, and tourists will be delighted by the unusual sights and activities one gets to witness in Spain.

To Do and To See

Tourists will enjoy the wonderful architecture in Cordoba and Toredo. There are three art museums to be visited in Madrid and one in Barcelona, the Picasso Museum.

The wonderful beaches near Huelva, Malaga, and Almeria are quiet beaches meant for the discerning tourist seeking complete relaxation amidst serenity. If you enjoy watching people around, you will appreciate the beaches of Costa del Sol and Costa de la Luz, two particularly crowded beaches in Spain.

There are several wildlife parks in Spain that offer great trekking opportunities amidst fresh air. Pyrenees is one such area particularly suited for a great trekking session. Sierra Nevada is famous with tourists across the globe, and the mountain range offers some great skiing opportunities. Tourists can also go exploring in the deserts between Baza and Gaudix that remain to be explored and mapped completely.

It is indeed hard to miss the colours of Spain. It is harder to miss Spanish bullfights. Watching bullfights is a very popular activity in Spain and is the national sport of Spain. The sport is the oldest sport in Spain dating back to 711 A.D. Bullrings are situated across Spain and yet some are more equal than others, such as the bullring in Madrid, that was built in 1929. This bullring can accommodate 25,000 people, making it the most important in the world.

The bullring is Seville is even older, constructed in 1758. With a capacity of half of La Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, it can house 12,500 people. Bullrings may be scary places, but this charming bullring attracts the best of bullfighters.

The Aqueduct in Segovia is one of the most important and finely preserved heritages left over by the Romans. Said to be built around circa A.D. 50, this is a remarkably preserved aqueduct. There are over 20,400 stone blocks used in construction and not one is connected with mortar.

Food

Food in Spain is refreshing. Breakfast is simple yet delicious. Toast and jam with coffee is a typical Spanish breakfast finished with pastry or churros. Espresso coffee with steamed milk is another Spanish favourite taken with rolls of cheese or jam. Thick chocolate served hot with a tubular deep fried doughnut is another Spanish treat tourists will enjoy every morning.

Eating out can be a costly affair at most resorts, not in Spain. Tourists can try from the many types of tapas served warm or cold. Spanish cuisine is exceptionally varied, and there are some great restaurants serving authentic taste of Spain.

Arzak restaurant is a pretty famous restaurant in Spain offering quality food. In fact it is so good that it is continually in Restaurant magazine’s list of World’s Top 50 restaurants. Martin Berasategui, Mugaritz, and El Bulli are other pretty famous restaurants in Spain.

Being the third largest producer of wines means one thing for tourists. There will be no shortage of choice and no compromise on quality. Sherry is one of the best fortified wines in Spain. Vega Sicilia is the costliest wine in Spain, and tourists might want to try it if they can cough up the price. As the cliché goes, there is a wine for every occasion.

Shopping

Tourists will find quality lace items, leather items, textiles and even furniture items in Spain. Spanish toys are also famous. Tiles and antique items are among the popularly demanded. Handmade jewellery and pottery items made in traditional style are unique souvenirs. Paintings and ceramics are also worth looking.
