British Airways Further Information
British Airways have an extensive route network across the UK, Europe and rest of the world.
How can I obtain the lowest fares year round?
Try and book well in advance - British Airways sells seats for nearly one whole year ahead (350 days). The lowest fares are sold subject to limited availability, so generally fares will be more expensive if you book close to your intended departure date.
When booking longhaul journeys, include a Saturday night if possible. Many longhaul Traveller/Economy fares require you to stay over a Saturday night at your destination as a condition of the lower fare. However on all UK domestic flights and to over 35 European destinations the requirement for a Saturday night stay has been removed, enabling you to have access to lower fares for mid-week travel. This means that on these routes you can now choose between tickets which are non-changeable & non refundable or flexible fares which offer you more choice to suit your travel needs.
Avoid peak-time travel. As you would expect, the lowest fares sell quickly on peak-time flights. Try and take the quieter flights such as mid-morning or early afternoon, and try avoid travelling on Monday mornings, Friday evenings or Bank Holidays.
The Club World Sleeper Service
The Club World Sleeper Service has been created to provide you with longer, undisturbed sleep time on-board. It is available on selected overnight flights from the East Coast of North America (JFK, Newark, Washington, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago and Toronto) and the Middle East (Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain) to London Heathrow.
British Airways Carbon Offsets scheme
British Airways has launched a scheme where customers can choose to offset the carbon dioxide emissions created during their flights. Customers can pay via a link from the airline's website for the cost of the emissions created by their journey. For example, a return flight to Madrid will cost £5 and a return flight to Johannesburg will cost £13.30.
The money raised will be used by an organisation called Climate Care to invest in sustainable energy projects that tackle global warming by reducing carbon dioxide levels.
Climate Care's projects include a scheme in South Africa that has distributed 50,000 energy efficient lamps this year via school groups as part of an environmental awareness campaign. In India, Climate Care's support means schools are able to use stoves that run on renewable energy briquettes made from crop waste rather than liquid petroleum gas. Customers can offset their carbon emissions via the booking confirmation form when they book British Airways flights online.
