Bermuda

BermudaComprising around 180 islets and islands, this gorgeous country with its sprawling beaches that are replete with pale pink coral sands enchants any visitor. Attractions

A reminder of British colonialism, Bermuda retains the glimpses of its colonial past with rows of alluring white roofed houses, manicured lawns and gardens, mansions and forts. The Royal Naval Dockyard that consists of the Bermuda Maritime Museum is a prominent attraction of the country. The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo (BAMZ) is visited by hosts of tourists, every year. BAMZ houses over 300 species of birds, reptiles and mammals.

The Botanical gardens that cover over 35 acres of land allure visitors with the colorful assortment of flowers, trees, trees with scented flowers, subtropical fruits, hibiscus and banyan trees. The gardens comprise an aviary and an exclusive garden for the blind. Surrounded by a vivid blue lake, Crystal caves are renowned for the splendid crystal stalactites and stalagmites. Rare chandelier clusters that decorate the ceilings are the unique features of the Fantasy cave, which is yet another attraction.

The Devil's hole Aquarium, Cristobal Colon, Horseshoe bay, Spittal Pond, Gibbs Hill lighthouse, St. Catherine Fort, Gates Fort, George Fort, Martello Tower, King's castle, Hamilton Fort, Bermuda Railway trail, Fort Scaur, the Cabinet Building, the Sessions House, Somerset Bridge, the Bermuda Perfumery and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, St. George town are other major sites of the country.

Activities

A gamut of activities awaits the tourists at Bermuda. Fishing, horseback riding, boating, bowling, bird watching, sailing, squash, etc are a few activities that visitors choose to engage in usually. Ferry trip around the Hamilton Harbour and cruises can be great fun. The beaches are ideal for scuba diving and snorkelling. For those missing their tee, there are eight golf courses on the island that offer the perfect spot for golfing during their stay at Bermuda. Cycling and tennis are other exciting events for a traveller in Bermuda. The beaches in Bermuda invite to swim.

For shoppers, the Front Street at Hamilton is the ideal spot. Travelling on foot around Hamilton, visitors can grab a wide variety of goods. Shopping at A.S. Coopers store, a relic from the early 19th century offers an exciting experience. St. George town also has an array of impressive shops. Dockyard's shopping mall and small stores across the islands are thronged by hosts of tourists.

Cuisine

Bermuda's unique cuisine comprises delicacies like Hop n' John and the traditional Sunday breakfast. The former is made of boiled rice and beans and the latter with salted codfish and boiled potatoes. Cassava Pie made during Christmas and Bay grape jelly are local specialties. Bermuda is renowned for the sweeter and smaller variety of banana known as Bermuda Bananas that are a 'must taste'.

Drink

The popular drinks in Bermuda are the Rum Swizzle and Dark n' Stormy. A rum cocktail, Rum swizzle is a concoction made of Jamaica Rum and Demerera Rum. A unique mix of local rum and ginger beer of Bermuda, Dark n' Stormy is preferred by locals and tourists alike.
