Kirchberg

KirchbergSituated in the Tyrol region, Kirchberg is a scenic town that is renowned for its fun filled atmosphere, animated nightlife and skiing. The Medieval town is located amidst the Kitzbuhel Alps and is only six kilometres away from Kitzbuhel resort. Located atop Burgstall Mountain, the resort offers many splendid views for the visitors. The compact village offers access to everything and every shop within a short walk. This culturally rich resort offers an array of activities and high quality accommodation for the tourists.

Skiing

In the Kirchberg resort, the skiing activity is focused in three major areas- Hahnenkamm, Jochberg-Pass Thun and Kitzbuhel Horn. These areas combine together to constitute the largest linked skiing area in Austria. The Gaisberg Mountain situated at an altitude of 860 metres in Kirchberg is ideal for skiing. The gentle slopes off the resort suit the skiers at the beginning stages. For advanced skiing experience, skiers prefer Kitzbuhel Horn or Hahnenkamm that have untracked trails, long runs, mogul fields and steep slopes.

Ski Safari, a prominent attraction and all day adventurous event, is preferred by those who enjoy the adrenalin rush. The continuous trail of 35 kilometres that drops down to the Pass Thun is challenging to navigate. The down hill run along the Streif on the Hahnenkamm is hailed to be the most difficult in the world. This down hill run hosts the annual Streif on the Hahnenkamm race. The Ski schools at Kirchberg offer skiing classes for the novices and are equipped with expert faculty.

Sights

The parish church, 'Pfarrkirche zum hl. Urich' is the prominent attraction of Kirchberg. The church built in Baroque style has frescos by Simon Benedikt and Faistenberger. Another attraction, 'Pfarrkirche Aschau', the parish church of Aschau is consecrated to the Holy Cross. 'Olschlagmuseum' showcases the process and history behind linseed oil production. The 'Schweden Chapel' and Harlassanger mountain chapel rank among famous attractions in Kirchberg. The Kirchanger chapel, situated on the slope of Kirchberg is a famous pilgrimage place in the resort.

Activities

The Fun Park with a half pipe, pro jump, quarter pipe and slalom sprint course is a Snowboarder's paradise. 100 kilometres of marked trails are meant exclusively for hiking. The hiking routes in Kirchberg cater to all kinds of hikers. There are wandering tours for the less serious hikers and complicated climbing tours for the expert hikers. The Bathing Lake in Kirchberg is ideal for refreshing swims, boat rides, rowing experiences and sedate sunbaths. The resort's surrounding areas have many cycling tracks for tourists to indulge in cycling.

The picturesque trails provide perfect settings for an unforgettable cross-country skiing experience. Tourists can partake in guided wanderings and snow shoe tours for more fun. Horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice-skating, curling, indoor swimming, hot tubs, saunas, Jacuzzis, bowling alleys, sledding, tobogganing, etc are among the alternative for non-skiiers in Kirchberg. Other activities that visitors can participate in are horseback riding, tennis, table tennis, water skiing, hunting, night skiing, canoeing, fishing and kayaking.

Apres Ski

The Apres ski scene in Kirchberg is vibrant with a host of mountain restaurants, cafes and coffee houses. Kirchberg offers a lively nightlife with many pubs, bars and discos, during the off-slope hours at the resort. After a tiring day, exhausted travellers can rest in the mountain huts. Chalets, holiday apartments and hotels offer services for different rates in Kirchberg.
