Katschberg

KatschbergA well established resort, Katschberg is located on the border of Salzburgerland and Carinthia provinces near Salzburg. Situated near two towering mountains, the resort comprises about 60 kilometres of ski slopes. Katschberg town is located on a plateau above Katschberg tunnel. Found at an altitude of 1,641 metres, the town is hailed as an upmarket ski resort. Four star hotels, vacation apartments, traditional atmosphere and lively locals make Katschberg a wonderful skiing holiday spot. The resort offers splendid views of the pine-clad landscape.

Must indulge

The well groomed ski runs of the resort cater to skiers of different levels. The gentle slopes of the resort are suitable for the beginners. Intermediates find many challenging slopes in Katschberg. There's little to challenge the expert and advanced skiers in Katschberg. The longest run of the resort is an eight-kilometre run that begins from Aineck Mountain to St Margarethen village. An intricate and exceptional system of 16 lifts operates in the resort.

The resort covers two major mountains in Austria, namely the Katschberg and the Aieneck Mountain. The presence of these mountains ensures a diverse skiing terrain for the skiers. The resort comprises downhill pistes and about six kilometres of cross country skiing trails. Snowboarders can navigate through the snowboarding runs, half-pipe, pro jump, high jump and slides.

Must experience

The Tschu Tschu tram, a major attraction of the town is an eco-friendly tram that moves in slow-motion. The tram offers a memorable journey for the visitors from Rennwag to Poellatal Nature reserve. Tourists pass through the picturesque landscape with beautiful villages, Poellatal recreation area, Lieser River, Kochloeffel hut, Schoberblick hut, and lush green scenery of the resort, during their tram journey.

Must see

Prominent attraction of Katschberg is the splendid nature with mountains, plateau, river and snow filled slopes. Apart from this, St. Georgen Church is a popular sight in the resort. The church is an integral part of the St. Peter im Katschtal's parish. The church was renovated during the late 90's.

The Poellatal Valley, a must see sight for the tourists is renowned for housing a wide variety of Orchids. The Valley comprises a Natural reserve and is an ideal excursion spot. The scenic setting of the valley and the historical hamlets make it a preferred spot to spend quality time.
