Hinterglemm
Hinterglemm ski resort is located in the Salzburgerland region, at an altitude of 1050m in Austria. This resort is linked to Saalbach resort in the country and situated just four kilometres away from the Saalbach skiing area. The Saalbach- Hinterglemm skiing area encompasses over 200 kms and is an integral part of the Ski Circus circuit. The exceptional lift system carries the skiers around the valley. A popular destination, Hinterglemm is a vital part of the Pinzgau region and Kitzbuhel Alps.
Skiing
The well groomed runs of Hinterglemm make the resort a great skiing spot. The Alpine charm of the resort, lively atmosphere and innumerable choice of activities allures visitors across the globe. Hinterglemm offers an ideal setting for the intermediate skiers to exercise their skiing skills. The Zwolferkogel area allows the professional and advanced skiers to enjoy the challenges posed by off-piste skiing.
The nursery slopes are perfect for the novices and the ski schools in the resort help the beginners to learn the basics of skiing. There are over nine ski schools in the Saalbach-Hinterglemm area and a team of 200 instructors works here. The instructors are expert skiers and English-speaking. The Schools offer training in skiing, off-piste skiing and snowboarding.
Activities
You can test your snowboarding skills at Hinterglemm. The vast expanse of terrain and snowboard parks promises lot of fun and challenge for the snowboarders. Visitors can walk around the resort all day in this traffic-free resort. Travellers may partake in outdoor activities like snowmobiling, tobogganing, tubing, night skiing under floodlit runs, snow rafting, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, ice hockey, ice skating, curling, sleigh rides, winter walks, horse riding, archery, paragliding and ice climbing. Phew!
Hinterglemm area offers plenty of trails for hiking in the Pinzgau Grass Mountains and scenic views at high altitudes. Cross country skiing tracks and toboggan runs are a great way to enjoy the Alpine beauty of Hinterglemm. Indoor activities including tennis, billiards, indoor skating, solarium, swimming, etc are also arranged in the resort. For unwinding completely, saunas in the resort are the preferred places to head for.
Dining/ hotels
This beautiful Alpine resort is home to many cafes, inns and restaurants. All these places present a traditional and tasty fare to the visitors with local specialties that include dumplings, sausages, schnitzels, spatzle, etc. Many restaurants also offer international cuisine to the travellers.
Apres Ski
Apres Ski scene in the Saalbach-Hinterglemm area is lively and active. There are around 35 bars, many taverns, beer halls, winestubes and hotel bars in the area for enjoying nightlife. Hinterglemm offers a quieter Apres Ski unlike Saalbach area that has a cosmopolitan atmosphere and a casino.
Shopping
The local shops in the resort sell a variety of items for cheaper rates. Crafts and souvenirs from these small town shops keep the essence of the region intact.
Childcare
Hinterglemm is renowned for the childcare facilities provided at the resort. Many hotels in the region provide childcare for toddlers and babies. Babysitters are available at the resort. Ski Kindergarten named 'Snow and Fun' is located in Hinterglemm, at the bottom of the nursery slopes. This Kindergarten is open everyday from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. The Ski area in this Kindergarten is safe for kids. Pre-booking can be done through Neilson. The Kindergarten for kids aged 3 to 4 houses Mini Clown World play area that has slides, swings, mini igloo and other fun games. Kids above four years of age are taught basic ski lessons.
