Galtur

GalturGaltur, situated in the Western Tyrol encompasses around 40 kilometres of skiing run. This tranquil ski resort situated in the scenic Paznau valley is ideal for beginners, intermediates and family skiing. The terrain park and open trails offer a perfect place for the snowboarders to indulge in their sport. A family-friendly resort, Galtur is an integral constituent of the Silvretta ski region. Tyrolean style accommodations and plenty of activities for non-skiiers are the distinctive features of Galtur. One of the highest resorts of the valley, the resort is well known for its laid-back, unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere. This mountain settlement is famous for the friendly people, traditional spirit, serene setting and scenic landscape.

Ski

The forty-kilometre slope of Galtur endows tourists with a tranquil skiing experience. The ski area comprises mountain railways, ten lifts and gondolas and promises an adventurous and fun-filled experience for the entire family with ideal ski conditions for the beginners, children and intermediates. Galtur is perfect for cross-country skiing with marked hiking routes and mountain trails. The cross-country trails cover over 45 kilometres. During winters, tourists can experience night skiing on the floodlit runs of Galtur.

The resort has a wide range of slopes for the skiers to choose from. The intermediates can have immense fun at Galtur with a fairly good choice of challenging runs. There is off-piste skiing for the adventurous advanced skiers. The resort is ideal for children, since the ski schools there teach them the basics of skiing.

Children are taught skiing in a very interesting manner. Little children are taught by experienced and skillful instructors and are helped by SIGGI, a mascot. The SIGGI's Alpine club, specially meant for children, provides unlimited fun and sporting activity. The club organises events like skiing race, stamp game, hiking, climbing, painting, village rally and camp fire exclusively for the little ones.

Other activities

Tobogganing on 650m floodlit run, parasailing, hand-gliding, snowboarding, sledding, etc are meant for non-skiiers. Tourists can indulge in squash, tennis, bowling and swimming at the indoor facility exclusively built for non-skiing activities. Travellers can unwind themselves with the indoor adventure pool, sauna and spa in the facility. Inline skating, fishing, mountain biking, hunting, climbing, fitness training, trekking and paragliding are other activities that a visitor can indulge in. The walking trails in the picturesque Galtur allow one to explore the beautiful landscape.

Après Ski

Après Ski scene of Galtur is quieter since only a few popular cafés, bars and discos can be found here. Ischgl, near Galtur has a livelier night life and a 10 km ride to the city can take a traveller to the threshold of excitement and fun. The restaurants in Galtur serve traditional and international cuisine to the visitors. The mountain huts, cosy cafes and restaurants that serve home made food are the Apres Ski highlights of the region.

Attractions

Skiing and other adventure sporting events are the major highlights of Galtur. Apart from this, a tourist can visit the nearby town of Ischgl for a unique kind of entertainment. The Wire Climbing Garden at Ischgl with 4000 sq.m. of climbing obstacles like beam straddle, a giant swing, cargo net, flea jump, tremor net, a beam and a rope wall is the perfect place to push oneself to the limits. The young and old are equally thrilled by the fun park located in the city.

Family fun

The complete family fun ensured in Galtur makes it a most preferred destination for families. The slopes are ideal for families and there are plenty of supervised events for skiing and non-skiing children. Neilson family Rep service ensures a great ski and Apres-ski experience for the families.

Skiing kids

There are children-only skiing areas in Galtur that comprise gentle slopes, fun obstacles and slow lifts. The ski kindergarten is meant for children above three years of age. Confidence boosting coaching is imparted to them by experienced instructors. The service is provided six days for four hours each and is pre-bookable through Neilson. Lunchtime supervision can be availed for 9 euros a day.

Non- skiing kids

An English-speaking crèche for children above two years is set up at Galtur. The children can enjoy many activities, crafts and games there. Services can be availed from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon and 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. At 13 euros, full days and half days at 8.50 euros can be availed. Supervised lunch and day care costs 21.50 euros.
