Places to visit
Dampier Peninsula is one of the must see sights in Western Australia. With its Turquoise waters, Red soil, aboriginal people, flooding monsoons, crocodiles, etc the Peninsula is a great place to visit. Famed for the pearling industry in the nineteenth century, the Peninsula is home to a wide variety of Aboriginal communities.
Covered with mounds looking like beehives with alternate black and orange stripes, the Bungle Bungles Range situated in the Purnululu National Park offers a spectacular sight for the onlookers. Situated about 578 metres above the sea level, this geological landmark stands above a grass covered plain and woodlands.
The Pinnacles are another major attraction of Western Australia. They comprise pillars of sandstone and they are the highlight of the Nambung National park. Watching the sun set and rise near the Pinnacles can be a marvellous sight. The landmark is one of the eeriest places in the whole of Western Australia.
Located on the coral coast, the Ningaloo Reef that covers 260 kilometres is another prominent tourist spot in the region. The Coral reefs abound with innumerable species of coral and fish offers a delightful underwater experience.
Hailed as the pearling capital of the world, Broome is located between the blue sea and vast expanse of red desert. Tourists can unwind in the presence of the cable beach's white sand, blue waters of Indian Ocean and enjoy the sunsets.
The wildness of Kimberley is another must see sight in Western Australia. For an adventurous experience, Kimberley offers an ideal setting with myriad gorges and vast plateaus. Walkers, climbers, cavers and river runners can enjoy every challenge the wilderness poses.
Vibrant multicultural lifestyle and laid back atmosphere makes Fremantle an ideal destination for the tourists who wish to enjoy quieter holidays in Western Australia. Renowned for the beaches at its mouth, the Margaret River is popular among the surfers all over the world. Vineyard restaurants, world-class wineries, high quality local produce, wines, caves, white beaches and forests are the highlights of the region. Outdoor activities like canoeing, abseiling, rock climbing, fishing and whale watching are perfect for an adventurous traveller.
Things to experience
Visiting the Coral coast during the Whale Shark season in the months of March and April is pure fun. Margaret River Wine region Festival offers the best of wines and best of enjoyment for the visitors and the locals. The Wildflower season in the months of July and August is yet another experience to be cherished, during a visit to Western Australia. The international Jazz festival allows one to watch all the great Jazz artists under one roof. The Fremantle Festival is also a prominent festival in the region, which should not be missed.
