10 Tips When Traveling To Keep Safe From Swine Flu The H1N1 influenza or the epidemic of swine flu has plagued many countries including Mexico and the United States of America, thus having an unfavorable effect on the traveling industry. Due to the swine flu fright, several people are avoiding to travel and prefer staying at home. But, for people who still have to travel, the following are some traveling tips to keep safe from swine flu.

Important Tips:

Tip 1:
Make advance planning of your trip. This will give you enough time to strengthen your immune system with the help of exercises, healthy nutrition and herbs. Doing so will decrease your chances of acquiring the H1NI influenza if you happen to encounter an infected individual.

Tip 2: Try to avoid areas where the swine flu virus is prevalent, especially Mexico, as it is contagious. Before deciding to travel, research for places where the H1N1 influenza cases are very high and avoid visiting such countries.

Tip 3: These days, many travel companies are canceling itineraries and rescheduling passengers because of the swine flu scare. Thus, speak with your travel company to negotiate dates or prices. Some travel companies have decreased their prices, as several people have been canceling their travel plans.

Tip 4: It is important you pack hygienic supplies, extra vitamins and medicines. Purchase flu medicines, hand sanitizers and soaps. Carry gloves and masks too. It is always sensible to be prepared if a swine flu emergency is suddenly declared on reaching your destination.

Tip 5: Change your clothes immediately after arriving at your destination. Put your travel clothes in a plastic bag or preferably in an airtight bag to avoid swine flu contamination.

Tip 6:
Be careful and conscious of people with whom you are interacting. Avoid individuals who look sick or are afflicted with coughs, sneezes or colds. Try to be more vigilant.

Tip 7: Try to be flexible, as you might be forced to change your travel plan, or you may be quarantined during your vacation, due to swine flu. While traveling, remember to contact your relatives so that they will be aware of your status.

Tip 8: While traveling, wipe off tokens, coins, windows or hand rests before touching them directly, since H1N1 influenza is contagious.

Tip 9: Avoid rubbing your eyes, nose, face and mouth. Wash and sanitize hands frequently.

Tip 10: Be careful of the hard surfaces you touch such as chairs, doorknob handles, and other objects. Disinfect any hard surfaces before touching them. As air-borne viruses such as swine flu, thrive in hard surfaces.
