When visiting a place like Amsterdam, getting the most from your city break is the most important thing to keep in mind. Particularly if you are there for only a short amount of time, as you don’t want the time to slip by and for the holiday to end feeling as though you hadn’t done enough.
Take a canal trip. The canals meander peacefully through the main city, past historical sites and places of cultural interest. Pick up an up to date travel guide. Even if you have visited before and have a trusted guidebook from that trip, Amsterdam is like every city in Europe: ever changing. Just to make sure you don’t miss out something memorable, make sure your information is up to date. It can also save you some pennies, as you may end up getting a shock paying for something that was advertised as a lot cheaper in an out of date travel book.
Take a bike. If water isn’t your thing, then there is another cheap way to get around Amsterdam to ensure you see everything the city has to offer. To really make sure you are getting the most out of your city break, and that you don’t miss out on a thing, hop on a bike with an organised bike tour. These take place at various times and locations throughout the city, and make sure enough ground is covered so that you feel you have had a taste of what Amsterdam has to offer.
Sightseeing tours are certainly a way to get the most of a visit to Amsterdam. Whether the tour is focused on history and culture, or dedicated to giving you a tour of its infamous Red Light District, there will inevitably be a tour for you to take in order to have a memorable trip.
