Pas de la Casa
One of the highest resorts in Europe, Pas de La Casa stands 2050 metres high. Pas de la Casa is one of the most sought after destination for its height, excellent snow conditions due to exceptional snow making capability of the resort and long ski seasons that stretch to the end of April. The resort is located at the northern part of Andorra. It is situated closer to France and Toulouse airport. The resort is Andorra's highest lift-served terrain. The lift system of the resort spreads across to three other valleys that are situated adjacent to it. Pas de la Casa is linked to Grau Roig and Soldeu/ El Tarter.
The resort has undergone many a development inclusive of the expansion of the beginner area, extra bit of snowmaking, upgradation of Terrain Park and boarder-cross. The series of gentle slopes, nursery slopes and chairlifts that allow the skiers to access the higher slopes are a novice skiier's delight in Pas de la Casa. Ski schools in the resort are staffed with predominantly English-speaking instructors who are adept at their craft. They share their expert advice with the amateur skiers and make their experience intuitive.
Though the ski resort caters to skiers' possessing different levels of capabilities, it is best suited for the beginners and intermediates. The aspiring intermediates are challenged with the reds and blues on the main ridge that are positioned top-to-bottom. There are two areas in the resort meant exclusively for the beginners with a lot of gentle slopes. The resort has little for the experts, except a few steep pitches and bumps. Adding to the fun of skiing, the resort has floodlit skiing, on every Wednesday night.
Pas de la Casa is famous for snowboarding. A special lift-served board park and half pipe are established for the snowboarders, on the Grau Roig side of the towering mountain. This provides a thrilling venue and an ideal setting for the visitors to enjoy and indulge in snowboarding.
Pas de la Casa has innumerable apartments and hotels, which are an indication of the rapid development that has come over the resort, since 1960. Most of these accommodations are placed near the slopes, for the convenience of the tourists. The resort has hosts of restaurants and bars that cater to people from all walks of life.
For shopping buffs there is plenty to shop at cheaper prices. Innumerable shops near the resort sell designer clothing, electronic items and liquor for less rates. Any product, any brand comes at throw away prices due to tax free shopping.
The party town
The night life at Pas de la Casa is one of the prominent reasons for alluring multitudes of tourists to this ski destination. Bars and clubs in the region offer affordable and fun night life. Pas de la Casa is hailed as the party town of Andorra and the town lives up to its name.
The French influence
The ski holidays in the Pas de la Casa inspire an obvious and strong French flavor. The French flavor in the atmosphere of Pas de la Casa is evidently because of its proximity to France. The Gallic influence is apparent in the spacious resort, where cafes, crepes, traditional French cuisine and Catalan dishes are served in many of the restaurants and hotels located in the area.
